Where do I begin, oh I know, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.  The Good - All the people I work with are wonderful, nice and a pleasure to work with.  There are three ladies around my age and then five (two guys) who are probably in there 20's.  Two of the ladies have husbands that work out here and one of the gals is scoping it out so when her husband retires he might come here too.  They all live in the employee RV park.  My manager, Donna, has done this a couple years and her husband runs the campground, super nice people.  She drove me down to Jenny Lake Lodge to HR to get my badge and name tag the first day so I didn't have to take the shuttle.  Next, The Bad - I really have not run into any bad out here, I am thinking it will remain that way.  But,  I am combining a small bad and Ugly in the next sentences.  Remember the girl on the shuttle with me?  Well I think it's her that works in the grocery store connected to the g...

August 15th through the 19th, work shifts are usually 1-9 or 8-4.  Pics are views on the way to work.  The gift shop I work in is the largest gift shop in the Teton National Park and we do have just about everything.  Camping items, backpacks,  really expensive camping chairs-I mean ridiculously priced-but somebody bought one the other day, hiking boots, sandals, socks, and all the souvenirs you could ever want.  There is a kids section with stuffed animals, puzzles, and other stuff that kids will want and talk there parents into :0)  There is really nice artwork, framed prints, sculptures, jewelry, and Native American items-pottery, jewelry and stones.  I will maybe get some pictures of the artwork, it is very nice! Learned how to run the cash register, where everything is downstairs for restocking, learned SOME of the answers to the many questions visitors have and that working in retail is fun.  Of course it has only been five days and I ...

Hi, soooo it is actually day six in the Tetons, I arrived on August 14th, and did not get this blog going until today, so I am going to play a bit of catch up.  I went to work at the gift shop the day after I landed.  I have been pretty busy since, work 8 hour days, 5 days a week with 2 days off.  Here are some pics on my walk to work the first day:  This first week I have been getting my room organized, figuring things out, for instance it takes me 7 minutes to walk to work and from there 3 minutes to the employee dining, AND how can I easily get coffee in the morning?  Do I really want to get out of bed and trek 10 minutes to get coffee?  then 10 minutes back to sit and enjoy it?  Where can I get reception to make phone calls, (not in dorm room and not standing outside dorms.  Not at work, hard to find cellular service!  I did find one spot that works pretty good if I don't move around too much and that is out by the basketball courts, in t...
