I don't even know where to begin as so many things have happened.  Time goes by way too fast here, work and play, trying to fit in all the fun things.  A co-worker, Rainy and her husband Mark had me over for supper one night and afterwords we took a drive to Signal Mountain and did a very short hike.  Anyway for supper they served some appetizers while the chili was cooking and we had some wine.  Rainy had asked me ahead of time if I liked spicy food and I said yes, so she chose to make her spicy chili.   Chili is ready and I take my first bite and as it went down it irritated my already irritated throat.  OMG I coughed and coughed and they laughed and laughed!  I drank a bit of wine to help clear my throat.  I said I really do like spicy food but my throat has been irritated and this just set it off a bit, I will be fine.  Rainy shook her head like I was fibbing and I said REALLY.    Anyway I waited a bit before next bit...

This post is about Gabby who went missing and may have been found pending autopsy.  She was found at Spread Creek camping area about an hour from Colter Bay.  When this first came out in the news I wondered if I had waited on her or her boyfriend at the gift shop, or if they had been in there, but I could not remember them as I see A LOT of people and there would have had to of been something that stood out about them.  It ended up that I did not work the day people saw them.  We all really did not talk about it much or at all, until this was put up in the employee area at the gift shop on the morning of 9/19  Until now there had not been one of these flyers sighted anywhere in Colter Bay or Jackson Lake Lodge and I understand why.  When we all saw this that morning  different things started to come out and recollection got better.  I don't think I wrote about this but shortly after I got here, maybe 2 weeks, somebody parked their white van ...

I write these blogs so Mom and Dugan can keep up with things (they do not have FB) for other family and friends and so I can look back at this trip.  Jody did this when we went to Norway and I am so glad she did.  Love reading through it and remember that awesome adventure with my sisters and daughter.  So repeating some stuff is a given.  Anyway I did not end up going on the hike as there were no people on it and I just got a bit SCarEd!  The woods are beautiful but........ I turned around and went to swim beach which is not to far from the hiking trail.  People were there and probably no bears to see.  Pics from the day,  There are so many beautiful rocks and unique pieces of driftwood, I want to take some home :0)  Does this remind you of anybody - Mom?! I have learned so many things from the wranglers on the trail rides.  #1 Remember the plane crash into Mt Moran.  Well nobody survived it and nobody or any of the wreckage ...

So work week 3 is done and in the books nothing out of the ordinary happened.  I have 3 days off in a row which is unusual, going to be great cause I won't be hurried to get the laundry done, tidy room get all my fun stuff in. Catching up on stuff in the last week or two my second ride out was on Wilma and Wilma stands 18 hands high she's a big girl but gentle gentle giant.  We had a real nice ride that day and we were almost back to the corrals when the wranglers walkie-talkie went off,  you could tell by the conversation that it was something important but I really could not hear what was being said.  I thought I heard whistling pig and, well, that doesn't mean anything or make sense.  I asked the lady ahead of me if she heard anything and she said no, I said I thought I heard whistling pig and she just ignored me.  I was thinking she was thinking you are weird, haha.   We got back to the corrals and gave our horses treats, some love and t...

2nd work week begins August 22nd - 26th, more learning and getting the hang of things, much easier this week, do not have to ask questions of coworkers every 10 minutes.  I am sure they like that.  All of my coworkers have been here since June so they are kind of "done".   I am all pumped to be here so I may be a bit annoying to them.  Though they have not given any indication of that.  That I have seen.  I have seen this deer twice on my way home from work in the same area, this time I was able to get a pic as it was not too dark.   She is not one bit afraid of me, at this point she has her vision on 2 people with 2 dogs.  Much more of a threat than me who just wants to pet her :0)   In the end she elegantly trots off into the woods.   Highlight of the week was when somebody in the grocery store (connected to the gift shop by a hallway filled with souvenirs) accidentally set of bear spray.  We heard that it had ...

Where do I begin, oh I know, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.  The Good - All the people I work with are wonderful, nice and a pleasure to work with.  There are three ladies around my age and then five (two guys) who are probably in there 20's.  Two of the ladies have husbands that work out here and one of the gals is scoping it out so when her husband retires he might come here too.  They all live in the employee RV park.  My manager, Donna, has done this a couple years and her husband runs the campground, super nice people.  She drove me down to Jenny Lake Lodge to HR to get my badge and name tag the first day so I didn't have to take the shuttle.  Next, The Bad - I really have not run into any bad out here, I am thinking it will remain that way.  But,  I am combining a small bad and Ugly in the next sentences.  Remember the girl on the shuttle with me?  Well I think it's her that works in the grocery store connected to the g...

August 15th through the 19th, work shifts are usually 1-9 or 8-4.  Pics are views on the way to work.  The gift shop I work in is the largest gift shop in the Teton National Park and we do have just about everything.  Camping items, backpacks,  really expensive camping chairs-I mean ridiculously priced-but somebody bought one the other day, hiking boots, sandals, socks, and all the souvenirs you could ever want.  There is a kids section with stuffed animals, puzzles, and other stuff that kids will want and talk there parents into :0)  There is really nice artwork, framed prints, sculptures, jewelry, and Native American items-pottery, jewelry and stones.  I will maybe get some pictures of the artwork, it is very nice! Learned how to run the cash register, where everything is downstairs for restocking, learned SOME of the answers to the many questions visitors have and that working in retail is fun.  Of course it has only been five days and I ...
